Desert Bivouac : New Year 2019-2020 under the stars

A traditional dinner can not be missed here. Our chefs have put together a special festive menu that consists of: Moroccan soup. Mechoui, a special party dish. Mechoui consists of preparing a sheep that is completely cooked in a traditional oven, served with Couscous. To conclude with a dessert of the season, tea and Moroccan pastries. And especially fun, party, campfire and music.

1. New Year’s excursion from Marrakech with a 4 × 4 | 2 days

Day 1:
You will be picked up at 8 o’clock in the morning in Marrakecht with our 4 × 4. Along the way you will experience the beautiful Moroccan landscape and the rich nomadic culture. Via the Tizi-N-Tichka mountain pass we drive towards Ouarzazate, where a delicious lunch is served on arrival. Then we head for Zagora, we visit the city of Agdez lying on the banks of the Draa river. This old city lies on the caravan route that once connected Marrakech with Timbuktu. Once back on the road, we enjoy the panoramic view over the Draa valley. We continue towards M’hamid and we stop in Tamegroute, here we visit the Koran library and the famous underground Kasbah. Here we are introduced to the craft of glazed earthenware.

The paved road stops and the sand starts. We have just driven through the village of Mhamid, the gate of the desert. The 4 × 4 really needs to work now and we drive through the sand to the tent camp. The environment is wide and impressive. Endless sand dunes dotted with tufts of bushes and here and there a tree. And in the middle of that landscape we see a colorful tented camp: El Mezouaria. Time to relax, to install and prepare for New Year’s Eve.

Day 2:

After a hearty breakfast you leave on the dromedary’s back. You now experience the desert as a true nomad and you are invited to local residents to drink tea. Then we continue our journey by 4 × 4. We drive back along the Draa valley towards Marrakech. We stop in Agdez and visit the Kasbah Tamnougalt in the Atlas Mountains. Then we drive via Ouarzazate via Tizi N’Tinffift where we stop for lunch. Then we drive back to Marrakech.

2. New Year’s excursion from Marrakech by minibus | 2 days

Day 1:
You will be picked up at 8 am with our minibus and transported to Mhamid. You enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. On the way there are a few stops and you can have lunch at your own expense. You arrive in our tent camp El Mezouaria, in the Sahara desert. It’s time to relax, to install and prepare for New Year’s Eve.

You enjoy a traditional dinner, the campfire and the nomadic folklore under the stars. And we celebrate the turn of the year until the late hours.

Day 2:

After breakfast, a camel ride through the desert follows and after that you will be taken back to Marrakech by minibus.

3. New Year in El Mezouaria from M’hamid | 1 night

Day 1:
You will travel to El Mezouaria by private transportation or public transport. From here we will go to the camp by 4×4. Your car can be parked next to our office till the next day. You arrive in our tent camp El Mezouaria, in the Sahara desert. It’s time to relax, to install and prepare for New Year’s Eve.
