New Year & Specials / The International Festival of the Nomads in Mhamid, Morocco

Nomad Festival MoroccoNomad Festival Morocco. The International Nomad Festival is a public and artistic open-air event held every year in M’Hamid El Ghizlane, 90 km south of Zagora in the Draa valley, in the south of Morocco.

This Nomad festival in Morocco is a true ‘springboard’ for nomadic culture, and highlights different themes every year. For 4 days, visitors can take part in conferences and round tables on a wide range of topics: architectural heritage, flora, fauna, sculpture, environmental protection, health, education, agriculture …

There is art in various forms: crafts, painting, weaving …

Local, regional, national and international artists are invited to take to the stage to perform poetry, story-telling, song, music and dance. Every year the festival welcomes an honorary guest. Competitive sport is an important element of the event, with demonstrations of nomadic hockey and a camel race (ellaz).
